CHAPITRE 10: SYMBOLS IN TIKAR ARTS
Tikere Mofor Nting
Les Tikar du Cameroun central

Abstract
The Tikars use multiple emblematic motifs on arts especially on sculpture, embroidery and pottery. The use of these could be traced far back from the period of the migration of this group. These motifs are represented on a variety of objects ranging from stools, thrones, beds, doorposts, houseposts, walking sticks, drums to drinking essels. This work is to clarify the fact that no particular Tikar fondom can claim that she was the one that invented the motifs on Tikar arts. It is also aimed at presenting the deeper interpretations of the motifs engraved on Tikar arts.
